Our Expertise

MTT has a team of accomplished mining industry professionals with an aggregate of 100+ years of experience in mining.

The team includes senior management, specialists and technical experts with extensive knowledge, expertise and skills in the Bolivian mining business, legal framework, finance, environmental regulations and permitting application process, project management of exploration, mine planning, metallurgy testing and operations.

Unlike traditional domestic miners and multinationals, MTT is very active at engaging and negotiating with communities, mining cooperatives, the state-owned mining corporation—Comibol, and the mining sector’s regulatory agencies.

Our Track Record

Before MTT was founded, the team’s mining sector achievements included, among other:

leading successful exploration efforts, development of ore reserves, implementation of leaching and CIL plants, and operations management
for over 15 years of Empresa Minera Inti Raymi S.A. owner of the Kori Kollo mine and the largest gold producer in Bolivia (later owned by Newmont Mining until 2009);
the project management of the Joint Venture Compañía Minera La Rosa, Billiton, which developed Don Mario’s ore reserves (currently owned by Orvana Minerals); and
the securing of financing and conduction of the pre-feasibility study project for the Toldos mine, later absorbed by the San Cristobal mine (currently the largest mining operation in Bolivia)

Since MTT’s founding, the team has invested in 13 mining projects by engaging concessionaires, cooperatives, indigenous communities, mainly through JVs or toll mining agreements:

MTT has acquired mining rights of previously socially troubled Illampu’s Capilani mines and renegotiated with its communities the reopening of mining operations.
MTT acquired mining rights under JV for the Pacuani mine, secured social authorization and water supply to be diverted from agricultural to mining uses.
MTT’s related company Kaparipin partnered with an Australian geology firm, secured social authorization and government permits for exploring of the Parco antimony mine, and is currently negotiating with the co-op to explore the Inocentes silver mine.
MTT set up two flotation and one agitation leaching plants in Viacha to do pilot tests of its mines and for toll mining services for miners and cooperatives with limited metallurgy equipment.
